Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. Her family was raised in a multiethnic household. Jacqueline's dad Elroy Fernandez is a from Sri Lanka. She is the younger of two sisters and an older brother. In the 1980s, her parents emigrated to Bahrain due to civil unrest on Sri Lanka. As a result, she was both born and raised in the country. When she finished her studies in Bahrain and after that, she received a Scholarship to pursue a degree at Sydney's University of Sydney, where she pursued a diploma in Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. In order to further her love of the world of languages, cultures and languages, she was enrolled at the Berlitz schools of languages in which she could study Spanish and also improve her French and Arabic. In addition, she was crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th, 2006 and also participated in Miss Universe 2006. Following her win of the Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she took on the world of television. She was the host of a show that was a business show in Sri Lanka named Lanka Business Report. Padukone (the mother of former badminton players Prakash Padukone) was born and raised in Bangalore. When she was in her teens, Padukone competed in badminton championships at national level. But, she resigned from the sport in order to become a fashion designer. Padukone has Mangalorean roots and speaks Konkani as her primary language. Her family tree is rooted in Padukone village in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District in the State of Karnataka, India. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend, who retired in the 80s. The mother of her daughter, a travel agency, also hails from this area.
